Cycles of Redemption - Week 3

What do we do when God calls us to something that seems far beyond what we have to offer? In Judges 7, we find Gideon staring down an army of 135,000 with only 32,000 fighters at his side. Already outnumbered four to one, he hears something that defies every military instinct: God tells him he has too many soldiers. This message digs into that stunning moment and unpacks a truth that cuts against the grain of how we naturally think about readiness and obedience. We are so often convinced that we need more -- more experience, more money, more confidence, more certainty -- before we can step into what God has placed in front of us. But the story of Gideon reframes the whole question. The issue was never the size of the army. The issue was where Israel would place its confidence when the battle was over. God reduced the army not to make the task harder, but to make the source of the victory undeniable. There is something deeply relevant here for every one of us who has ever stood at the edge of an open door and talked ourselves out of walking through it.
